Gmail Contacts and Calendar Sync Online with Smart Phones
Google began synchronizing its free online calendars and Gmail contact lists with smart phones using software licensed from arch-rival Microsoft. Google sync perpetually updates the calendars and google mail contacts in iPhone or windows based mobile devices. Google Calendar contact sync uses push technology so any changes or additions to your google calender or gmail contacts are reflected in your device in minutes. Google Sync is a two way service. You can make changes in your phone or your google account. Your calendars and contacts are always updated no matter where you are.
Once Sync is setup on a smart phone, it automatically goes to work in the background using the wireless internet connection. The service is currently in test [beta] and it is advisable that you take a backup of your data on phone before the sync actually happens. Google Calendar sync and google contacts sync works on the Microsoft Exchange Active Sync technology. Microsoft has also licensed the technology to other mobile phone makers including apple, nokia, palm, samsung and sony ericsson.
