Synchronizing Gmail or Google Mail with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook express, Thunderbird or any email client is very easy. Gmail provides a POP3 and IMAP support. IMAP is only user for synchronizing your emails. in order to sync your Outlook contacts with your [google mail] GMail contacts, you will need to export the contacts in your Gmail as an Outlook .CSV file and then import that into Outlook. To access IMAP on gmail and sync with Outlook, Follow the steps given :
1. Go to the settings panel in gmail and click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP link.
2. Click on the enable IMAP radio button and save settings.
3. Add your account with Outlook using the Account settings in tools.
4. Click on the new button on the Email Tab – Select “Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP” .
5. Select check box for Manually Configuring server settings.
6. In the next step select Internet Email and add your personal information.
7. Click on More Settings > Check the box for “My outgoing server requires authentication“.
8. Choose the advanced tab and Enter these values
- Incoming Server: 993
- Incoming Server encrypted connection: SSL
- Outgoing Server: 587
- Outgoing Server encrypted connection: TLS
9. Click On Test Account settings. If all is done right > you will see a message box with a congratulation Message. ” Test Successfully done“.
